First Post of the Season, 2015

Thursday June 25

Dave and I arrived in the afternoon of June 25. We are using Camp Dore as our marina this year. The owners, Jim and Cathy are really nice people.
Somehow one of the dust caps on the boat trailer fell off on the way up. Noticed it at Pt. au Baril. None at the Home Hardware, no marina in the area had one so we drove on to the Key. Jim had one for us in no time, no charge.
The boat was heavily loaded. 10 gallons of gas(plus 20 in the tank), 10 gallons of water, 3 propane cylinders, two 10' 2x10's and various other lumber.
Got to the cottage around 4:30.

Friday June 26

Tackled the split water line in the morning.  The hardest parts were removing the broken plastic fitting in the tap which Dave accomplished with the help of a propane torch and a chisel, and feeding the new line under the cottage. This we did with the help of a paint brush, some wire and duct tape. (don't ask).

Next on the list was the ramp from the dock. This thing was really on its last legs and a total health hazard.

What follows is a video time lapse (thanks Dave) of how we went....

We also got the new dock leveled but we may nee to raise it a few more inches. We'll see what the water level does in the next few days. We'll need a short ramp here too, to go from the stairs to the dock.

Pizza for supper tonight.
Tomorrow we work on decking the dock and try to launch the Lund.
