It took me a few days to figure out how to sign in to this blog. Couldn't remember the passwords, user name etc.
I think I'll write them in the back cover of the logbook.
Anyway it's great to be back. And it's really nice not to be getting kicked out of the house every few hours for yet another showing or open house.
For a while there, last week it looked like we wouldn't be coming up at all. Last Thursday I pulled the boat out of the shelter and parked it in the driveway only to find a puddle of oil under the I/O a little while later (around 4:30 PM). We were supposed to be leaving the next morning. The oil was coming from a cracked hose which runs from the oil reservoir to deep inside the stern drive. Very hard to see, looked impossible to replace.
I had a marine mechanic come over to look at it. He said the entire drive unit had to come off to replace the hose and it would probably need some other parts, so 3 to 4 days at best. After being totally bummed out for about an hour, I decided to see what I could do. Removing the drive was out of the question so I started trying to remove the offending hose from a fitting that was WAY up in there. Before it was dark, with the help of a hooked piece of coat hanger wire, a long razor knife and a long thin screwdriver, I had managed to splice in a new piece of hose. It's a temporary fix but should get me through the season.
The next morning after packing the truck and before we could leave we had to make the house spotless for several open houses on the weekend. Then just as we were about to leave I remembered the dog had crapped in a spot which would surely get stepped on. On my way to the yard shed for a shovel, I saw that the raccoons had gotten into the BBQ and had spread black greasy crap all over the newly painted deck.
We finally arrived at the cottage around 5 o'clock, which is not so bad because that is when the bar opens.
Weather has been fantastic. It's supposed to get windy this afternoon and cooler for the next few days.

More Drone Video
Well, Dave was able to compress rest of the video files to a much smaller size.
I couldn't decide which ones I liked better so I'm posting them all. These should be fun to watch next January.
Enjoy!

Drone Video
July 12. 2015
Came home yesterday. Uneventful day except Cosmo went ballistic when I tried to put him in his cage.
As for the heli video, luckily the SD card is OK and has lots of video on it. Unfortunately Blogspot doesn't allow videos over 100MB so only one is under that limit. I may see if I can reduce the file size for some of the others.
I also took several stills. Here are a couple of the better ones.
Back to work for now but we'll be back in about 2 weeks.

Went to the Bustards yesterday in the canoe. had a great day just putting around. The high water levels have opened up a lot of channels. You can now cut through the middle from the east side to Wicks Channel.
This is where we had lunch and refreshments (beer on the pier, right?). Right?
Strangely quiet here this week. Didn't see a soul other than Donny and family. They went home last night. No one at GBFC, again.
Found this little guy on one of the chairs this morning.

Actually caught a fish today. In fact I caught him twice a couple of minutes apart. He didn't fight much the second time. (Otter Bay, worm harness, in 10 ft of water, 3 PM)
Just inside the slot as usual.
OOPS...What's this ^^^
Once again, didn't see a single other person today. There's just nobody up here. Not complaining though.
I think I have some great drone video but I fried the micro SD/USB adapter so I won't know 'till I get home and see if there is anything on the card. If there is I'll post it later. I've got sunsets and everything!

A bit windy today but still nice. Went out in the canoe this afternoon and did a waterfall tour.
Both were near the rainbow camp.
Some signs of life at GBFC. The boat is there about every other day. "Mike" seems to be the guy in charge. Never more than 2 cabins rented at a time. Haven't seen Donny yet.
Saw a GBFC guest paddling one of the boats back to the dock a few nights ago.
After catching a mouse every night the first 5 nights, I haven't trapped one in the past 3 nights. Maybe we're over the hump. Found one trapped in the space heater by the windows a few nights ago. took the whole thing outside and let him go. Today a mouse (sure looked like the same one) ran across the rocks in front of Cosmo and disappeared under the cottage. Cosmo can still "move" if he wants to. Probably didn't turn out well for the mouse. Cosmo didn't eat his supper tonight.

Re-located the Lund ramp to a better place given the water levels.
We moved the Crawdad and Kiwi Canoe up with the Coleman canoe.

Dave goes back to the city today so say goodbye to the great video and pictures that he has given to this blog. Before he left he gave me a few more gems. Thanks Dave, for these and all the help with dock, ramp etc.
